Kerry Plowright - Managing Director

Kerry Plowright is the Managing Director of EWN. Kerry was previously an Army Officer before share farming in Central Queensland and then becoming involved in marketing and sales, Plowright has significant experience in the pursuit of meaningful social outcome. One of the original wildlife warriors, Kerry orchestrated, financed and managed numerous pro-active conservation efforts. During the first Gulf War Kerry flew a wildlife rescue team into Kuwait aboard US Marine helicopters as the Iraqi army fled north. This effort was in a bid to protect critically endangered estuary habitat threatened by oil slicks. Navigating terrain sewed with mines and cluster bombs he and his team successfully sourced and deployed oil booms across river mouths and harbour entrances protecting sensitive and endangered habitat

In 1996 Kerry founded the ezimerchant business and was the first to offer an affordable, packaged ecommerce solution to small and medium business. Since then Kerry has helped thousands of business make hundreds of millions of dollars on the Internet and is arguably Australia's leading authority on small business and the Internet. Kerry recently sold the ezimerchant business which is now the most widely used solution in Australia in addition to being sold in Japan, the USA and UK.

Michael Hallowes - Director, Government, Enterprise & Emergency Management

Michael Hallowes has held senior executive leadership roles for many years in the emergency management sector in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

He is widely respected as a passionate advocate and thought leader for generational reforms that have improved the outcomes for public safety and security. In particular, international collaboration in the development and implementation of disruptive technologies for public safety communications.

Until mid-2015, he was the National Director of Australia’s “Emergency Alert Program”, leading the ground-breaking work to introduce the public alerting system that is now accessible to and can reach everyone in Australia anywhere they can connect to a mobile telephone network. Prior to that, he was the Emergency Services Commissioner for the state of Victoria.

He is also a veteran of British policing. He served 30 years with the Metropolitan Police Service in senior leadership roles as a detective at New Scotland Yard, and as Head of Strategic Operations at the former National Policing Improvement Agency. He finished his police career as Operational Head of the UK Police Staff College.

Peter Fletcher - National Project Manager

Peter has worked in varied roles in large corporations over the past 30 years, including Property Manager and Assistant Branch manager roles in the Commonwealth Bank, Sales Team Manager in Telstra, and more recently as an ICT Program and Project Manager in Brisbane City Council.

Peter has undertaken further study during this time to attain Diplomas in Information Technology and Project Management as well as ITIL and Prince2 Foundation certifications. He is also an active member of the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM).

Peter has strong, proven management skills and is self motivated with a record of delivering results in complex environments, through a combination of excellent communication and client management skills, coupled with analytical thinking and problem solving capabilities.

Peter joined the Early Warning Network to pursue his interest in emergency management and community safety and to become part of the leading Severe Weather Alerting service available in Australia today.

Michael Bath - National Operations Manager

Michael's role with EWN leverages the expertise he has gained over 30 years of involvement with the severe weather monitoring community and a decade working in the information technology sector in Sydney. He holds an Associate Diploma in Business Computing from the Northern Rivers College of Advanced Education (now Southern Cross University), Lismore, NSW, and also the founding president of the Australian Severe Weather Association.

A member of the EWN team since the company commenced commercialising its location-based and ICT-driven alerting technology in 2007, Michael is the point of integration between the alert operators, meteorologists and the broader EWN team. His understanding of the technology and how the system can be leveraged to meet complex client requirements results in bespoke alerting solutions and also ensures EWN's ICT systems operate at the highest level of functionality and reliability.

Michael has also been integral to EWN's ongoing product development, working with our programmers to deliver solutions that enhance the company's offering to clients and respond to needs they have identified.

His years of direct weather observation including in-field operations has made him an authority on high-risk weather situations, with his talents utilised by the State Emergency Services [NSW] during a number of major storm and flooding emergencies.

Understanding how weather systems move and what the risk profile is of a particular set of meteorological conditions, and having a thorough knowledge of what precautionary action should be taken, is also an enormously valuable resource for EWN's clients.

James Harris - Corporate Solutions Manager

James grew up in Adelaide and it wasn't until moving to Sydney in 1988 that severe weather truly capture his interest. James went on to study and complete a Diploma in Tourism Management, an industry he worked in for over 17 years looking after major corporate and industry accounts. During this time, James also grew his severe weather forecasting and photography skills, which in turn saw him hold a committee member position with the Australian Severe Weather Association for a number of years.

With a strong passion for weather photography James now brings over 16 years of experience behind the lens. During this time he has provided images/footage for a number of commercial clients including the NSW State Emergency Service and various TV networks. He has also appeared on both television and radio for his expert commentary on a series of weather events. James is also a current registered storm spotter with the Bureau of Meteorology.

James current position allows him to use his knowledge and experience as a Corporate Solutions Manager with the Early Warning Network. The role sees him working with existing and new clients in facilitating solutions to minimise risks to staff, customers, property and materials from natural hazards and severe weather events. Through understanding the nature of a client’s business, James works to assist them in ascertaining the appropriate multi-channel alerts, warnings and messaging packages. James also provides forecasting for severe weather events.
