EMERGENCY WARNING - Calabash (Snowy Monaro LGA)

Posted:03/02/2020 17:36

A number of fires are burning near the the Tinderry, Calabash, Anembo and Jerangle areas. These have started as a result of the Clear Range fire. These fires are more than 880 hectares in size and are out of control.

Current Situation

A number of spot fires have started to the east of Colinton and west of the Strike a Light Nature Reserve as a result of the Orroral Valley bush fire in the ACT.
The fire is spreading in an easterly and north easterly direction under strong south westerly winds.
These conditions are causing increased fire activity and are making it challenging for firefighters to slow the spread of fire.
Low visibility due to smoke is making it difficult for aircraft.
