Emergency Warning - Tingha Plateau (Inverell LGA)

An Emergency Warning is in place for a bush fire burning in the Tingha Plateau area. The fire is out of control.

Current Situation:
A bush fire is burning to the east of Lake Copeton. The fire is burning in an easterly direction towards Thunderbolts Way. The fire has crossed Thunderbolts Way.

The fire is spreading quickly and there is a threat to properties between Lake Copeton and Tingha. Under current conditions, there is the potential for the fire to reach Tingha this afternoon.

Additional firefighters are being sent to the area to protect properties.

Emergency Alert telephone warnings are being sent to homes and mobile phones in the area.

Advice

If the fire impacts on your property or location, seek shelter and protect yourself from the heat of the fire.

If your plan is to stay with your property, make your final preparations now. Ensure you know what you will do if the fire reaches your location.

Thunderbolts Way and Bundarra Road are now closed.

There is a statewide Total Fire Ban in NSW today.

An information kiosk has been set up outside Gilgai Rural Fire Brigade Station, on Main Street until 8pm.
