Flood Watch Number: 1

Flooding is possible early next week associated with the track of the tropical low in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The tropical low in the Gulf of Carpentaria is forecast to strengthen into a tropical cyclone during the weekend and move south-southwest towards the Qld/NT border area over the weekend and into next week.

Showers and storms have been recorded in the Flood Watch area over the past week. Heavy rainfall is expected to start on Monday and continue through to Tuesday.

Localised flooding and travel disruption is expected during next week. Minor riverine flooding is also possible.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
Settlement Creek

Nicholson River

Leichhardt River

Lower Flinders River
