FURTHER AREAS OF MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE
FLOOD WATCH AREA
Deep tropical moisture is being drawn into the southern and
western parts of the Gulf Country and is expected to continue to
bring widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region for the
next 24 hours.
Catchments across the Flood Watch area are saturated from recent
rainfall with elevated river levels and minor to moderate flooding
occurring in some areas.
Further heavy rainfall is likely to cause renewed river level
rises and may prolong current flooding.
Flood warnings are current for the Nicholson and Flinders
Rivers.
Flood Warnings are also current for catchments to the south of the
Flood Watch area including the Georgina, Diamantina, Thomson, lower
Barcoo, Bulloo, Paroo, and lower Warrego Rivers and Cooper
Creek.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Settlement Creek
Nicholson River
Leichhardt River
Cloncurry River
The following catchments are no longer included in the Flood Watch
area: Norman River.
