Severe storm potential is ongoing in central and southeastern Queensland. Severe storms have developed in the western Gulf Country.

Weather Situation:

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in the Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Dalby, Maroochydore, Gympie, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Kingaroy, Coolangatta and Ipswich.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Gulf Country district. Locations which may be affected include Doomadgee and Westmoreland Station.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Central Coast and Whitsundays district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Hail between 2 and 5 cm and damaging winds reported from the Brisbane area.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
