The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:15 am, severe
thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Mudgeeraba,
Southport and Numinbah Valley. These thunderstorms are slow moving.
They are forecast to affect Coolangatta, Springbrook and Nerang by
12:45 am.
Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely.
131.6mm of rain was observed in the 2 hours to 11.42pm at Gold
Coast Seaway.
115mm of rain was observed in the 2 hours to 11.59pm at
Evandale.
114mm of rain was observed in the 2 hours up to 11.45pm at
Biggera.
103mm of rain was observed in the 2 hours to 11.49pm at Loder
Creek.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
