For people in Darling Downs and Granite Belt and parts of Central
Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett and Maranoa and
Warrego Forecast Districts.

INTENSE RAINFALL from VERY DANGEROUS STORMS through southern
inland parts.
Weather Situation: Slow moving severe thunderstorms continue to
form in very moist air to the east of a low pressure system over
southern inland Queensland.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce INTENSE RAINFALL that
may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding over the
next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and
Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling
Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected
include Miles.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may
lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in the Darling
Downs and Granite Belt and parts of the Central Highlands and
Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett and Maranoa and Warrego districts.
Locations which may be affected include Taroom, Goondiwindi, Miles,
Surat, Mungindi and Tara.
Gunn Bridge rain gauge (40km NNW of Goondiwindi) recorded 136mm in
the 3 hours to 8:00pm.
Canaan Creek (just north of Chinchilla) recorded 129mm in the 3
hours to 9:00pm.
Myall Park Road Alert (near Miles) recorded 73.4mm in the 2 hours
to 6:30pm.
Lundavra recorded 51mm in the 1 hour to 5:50pm.
Bengalla rain gauge (just east of Goondiwindi) recorded 56mm of
rain in the 2 hours to 4:50pm.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
