INTENSE RAINFALL WITH EMBEDDED STORMS OBSERVED NEAR THE TOWNSVILLE
AREA
Weather Situation:
A surface trough is deepening into a coastal low pressure system
near the Townsville coast area under the influence of a significant
upper trough and in unseasonably moist conditions. Embedded
thunderstorms are likely to continue over the area for several
hours before moving offshore.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce INTENSE RAINFALL that
may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING FLASH FLOODING in the
warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be
affected include Townsville, Giru, Woodstock and
Rollingstone.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
