Severe thunderstorms are occurring over inland parts of
Queensland.
Weather Situation:
A humid and unstable airmass east of an inland trough is producing
thunderstorm activity, enhanced by an upper low resulting in the
potential for severe thunderstorms across inland parts of
Queensland this evening.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may
lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds over
the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and
Coalfields district. Locations which may be affected include
Clermont.

hours in the Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt
and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West,
Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which
may be affected include Warwick, Toowoomba, Dalby, Roma,
Charleville, Emerald, Clermont, Stanthorpe and Goondiwindi.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Channel
Country district and the warning for this district is
CANCELLED.
56mm of rain was observed over 1 hour to 5.30pm at Jondaryan
Lagoon.
4+ cm hailstones have been reported 80km north of Alpha.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded,
forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
