Damaging wind gusts possible along the far southeastern Darling
Downs and Granite Belt during this morning.
Weather Situation: A high pressure system has moved into the the
Tasman Sea, while a trough lies over western Queensland and South
Australia. This weather pattern is producing a vigorous easterly
flow over parts of the Great Dividing Range.
Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS in
excess of 90 km/h are possible over elevated terrain in the far
southeastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt during this
morning.
Locations which may be affected include Stanthorpe.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
