Damaging wind gusts possible about the Border Ranges this evening
and Friday morning.
Weather Situation:
A deepening low pressure system in the Tasman Sea is slowly moving
south while a strong high pressure system remains dominant over the
Great Australian Bight. The combination of these two systems will
strengthen southerly winds across the Border Ranges
overnight.
Damaging wind gusts in excess of 90km/h are possible around the
Border Ranges, developing this evening and continuing until Friday
morning.
Locations which may be affected include Springbrook and the
Numinbah Valley.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people
should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
