Weather Situation: Thunderstorms are starting to develop across inland parts of southeast Queensland.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:50 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near the area southwest of Toowoomba, the area northwest of Esk and the area west of Toowoomba. They are forecast to affect Toowoomba, the area north of Toowoomba and the area west of Kilcoy by 5:20 pm and Kilcoy, Helidon and Haden by 5:50 pm.

Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

83km/h wind gust was reported at Wellcamp Airport at 4:40pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
