Weather Situation:
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:50 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Boonah and the area northeast of Kingaroy.

These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast.

They are forecast to affect Beaudesert, the area between Boonah and Beaudesert and Borumba Dam by 7:20 pm and the area southwest of Gympie, the area south of Gympie and the ranges between Gympie and Murgon by 7:50 pm.

Damaging winds, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.
Golfball size hail and a 113km/h wind gust was reported at Oakey around 5pm.

83km/h wind gust was reported at Wellcamp Airport at 4:40pm.

2cm hail and winds up to 100km/h was reported south of Rathdowney 6:10pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
