For people in parts of Ipswich, Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, Redland City, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:40 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Boonah, Laidley, Gatton, Caboolture and Dunwich. They are forecast to affect Strathpine, Redcliffe and the area south of Esk by 4:10 pm and Beaudesert, northern Moreton Bay and waters off Bribie Island by 4:40 pm.

Damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.

48mm was recorded at Kalbar in an hour.

62mm was recorded at Helidon in an hour.

70mm was recorded at Upper Lockyer in an hour (57mm in 30 minutes)

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Never drive, walk or ride through flood waters. If it's flooded, forget it.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
