Districts.
Issued at 2:42 pm Thursday, 24 February 2022.
Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are developing over the
northeast.
Weather Situation: A trough is moving north along the northeast
coast and adjacent inland. The very moist airmass in place ahead of
this trough will favour heavy rainfall with any thunderstorm
activity that develops.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may
lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several
hours. Locations which may be affected include St Helens, Fingal
and Scamander.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
