This Flood Watch provides early advice of possible flooding within the specified catchments.
Flood Watch for parts of East and West Gippsland

A low embedded trough is crossing the State on Saturday, bringing heavy rainfall across the Flood Watch area.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are wet as a result of the recent rainfall. Elevated river levels are observed across the catchments.

Widespread daily rainfall totals of 20-50 mm are forecast for Saturday and Sunday, with isolated higher totals of 30-60 mm possible in the elevated areas. Additional rainfall totals of up to 15 mm are forecast for Monday across the Flood Watch area.

With the forecast rainfall, renewed river rises are expected and areas of minor flooding may develop in the Flood Watch catchments.

A minor flood warning is current for the Snowy River catchment.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
Bemm, Cann and Genoa Rivers

Mitchell River

Macalister River

The Bureau of Meteorology is continuing to monitor the situation and will issue catchment specific warnings as required.
