For people in parts of Central, East Gippsland, South West, North Central, North East, West and South Gippsland and Wimmera Forecast Districts.

An active cold front to approach western Victoria later today before crossing the State during overnight and early Wednesday.

DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 50 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are possible overnight and early Wednesday morning in elevated areas (above 800 metres).

Damaging wind gusts around 90km/h are also expected along the coast and over the far southwest during the same period.

Winds are expected to ease from the west during Wednesday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Warrnambool, Portland, Castlemaine, Kyneton, Wonthaggi and Falls Creek.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
