MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA
FROM SATURDAY
A trough extends through western NSW from the tropics. The trough
is forecast to move over the central and eastern districts during
Thursday and Friday bringing unsettled conditions. Over the weekend
the trough is expected to move over the north east.
Catchments across parts of the Southwest ranges are relatively
wet.
Heavy shower and thunderstorm activity is expected within the
vicinity of the trough from Friday afternoon through to Sunday,
with locally heavy rainfall likely.
There is some degree of uncertainty over the exact location and
timing of the heaviest falls. Catchment specific flood warnings
will be issued if and when required.
This weather system has the potential to cause minor to moderate
flooding in the Flood Watch area from Saturday. Flood Classes
(minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the
Bureau provides a flood warning service.

and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings
and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding
develop.
Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to
be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau
of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.
Severe Weather Warnings will be issued or updated if very heavy
rain is forecast or observed.
