Flood Watch Number: 1

STREAM LEVEL RISES AND LOCALISED FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS THE FLOOD WATCH AREA

A broad trough of low pressure system is expected to expand from WA into northwest and western NT from late Saturday. Increasing chances of widespread showers and thunderstorms over the Flood Watch area are expected from Sunday, before the system weakens by mid next week while continuing shifting eastwards.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are generally very dry.

Unseasonal showers and thunderstorms may result in widespread rainfall with daily totals of 20-50 mm and isolated totals over 70 mm possible from Sunday.

Significant stream level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are possible in parts of the Flood Watch area which may affect road access. Some communities may become isolated.

Catchments likely to be impacted include:

Tanami Desert
Sturt Creek District
