Flood Watch Number: 5
MINOR TO MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE FLOOD
WATCH AREA WITH LOCALISED FLOODING TO OCCUR IN AREAS OF HEAVY
RAINFALL
A coastal trough aided by an upper-level system will remain slow
moving near the Southeast Coast during Tuesday, enhancing rainfall
in its vicinity. This trough and associated upper-level feature
will weaken and push offshore during Wednesday.
Catchments within the Flood Watch area are moderately wet
following rainfall over the past few weeks. Catchments will be
relatively responsive to rainfall, particularly those that have
experienced flooding over the last week.
Heavy to locally intense rainfall is likely across the Flood Watch
area during Tuesday and may persist into Wednesday morning. Showers
will remain active across the broader Flood Watch area during
Tuesday and into Wednesday.
Localised river level rises and flash flooding are likely within
the areas of heaviest rainfall, with isolated minor to moderate
riverine flooding possible. Although the Flood Watch area is quite
large to reflect the broad area at risk, widespread flooding is NOT
expected.
A severe weather warning for heavy to locally intense rainfall is
current for Southeast Queensland covering parts of the Flood Watch
area.
A generalised flood warning is current for the Nerang and Coomera
Rivers. A moderate flood warning is current for the Logan and
Albert Rivers, the Dawson River and the Maroochy River. A minor
flood warning is current for the Connors-Isaac River. Further flood
warnings will be issued as required.
Flooding may result in disruption to transport routes and
isolation of some communities.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Dawson and Don Rivers(Moderate warning current for the Dawson
River)
Burrum and Cherwell Rivers
Mary River
Noosa River
Sunshine Coast Rivers and Creeks(Moderate warning current for the
Maroochy River)
