For people in parts of Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms are continuing across eastern Queensland.

Weather Situation: A surface trough extends from the central highlands area southwards through the southern inland of Queensland. A moist and unstable airmass is in place to the east of this trough. Strong winds in the upper atmosphere provided by an approaching upper level trough will assist this storm activity, and have lead to continuing severe storm activity this evening.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Biloela, Blackwater, Moranbah, Baralaba, Marlborough and Mount Morgan.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

7CM HAILSTONES WERE RECORDED NORTH OF INJUNE AROUND 1:20PM.

86 MM WAS RECORDED AT MUDGEERABA IN THE 1 HOUR TO 4:16 PM (WITH 69 MM IN 30 MINUTES).

62 mm was recorded at Warrego Highway in the 30 minutes to 4:15 pm.

65 mm was recorded at Braziers Hill in the 30 minutes to 3:54 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
