Severe thunderstorms continuing for parts of southeast Queensland.

Weather Situation: A moist and unstable airmass combined with a southeasterly wind change moving up the coast is leading to the development of severe thunderstorms through southeast Queensland.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Maryborough and Rainbow Beach.

7CM HAIL WAS OBSERVED AT FLAGSTONE AT APPROXIMATELY 3:15PM.

6CM HAIL WAS OBSERVED EAST OF BOONAH AT APPROXIMATELY 2:40PM.

3-5cm hail was observed in multiple suburbs of Brisbane around 4pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
