DESTRUCTIVE WINDS OCCURRING ACROSS THE NORTH WEST PASTORAL
DISTRICT.
Weather Situation: A deep low pressure system is moving across the
south of SA today, with a warm and humid airmass ahead of it,
supporting the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon
and evening.
VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce damaging,
locally destructive winds and large hailstones over the next
several hours in parts of the Flinders, North West Pastoral and
West Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include
Hawker, Woomera, Tarcoola and Parachilna.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and
large hailstones over the next several hours in the Eastern Eyre
Peninsula, Flinders and parts of the West Coast, Yorke Peninsula,
Mid North, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.
Locations which may be affected include Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port
Pirie, Roxby Downs, Leigh Creek and Woomera.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the
next several hours in parts of the North East Pastoral district.
Locations which may be affected include Dalhousie Springs and the
Simpson Desert Conservation Park.
A 113km/h gust was recorded at Tarcoola at 4:37pm
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
