DESTRUCTIVE WINDS OCCURRING ACROSS THE NORTH WEST PASTORAL AND FLINDERS DISTRICT.

Weather Situation: A deep low pressure system is moving across the south of SA today, with a warm and humid airmass ahead of it, supporting the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Flinders and parts of the Eastern Eyre Peninsula, North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral and Mid North districts. Locations which may be affected include Port Augusta, Roxby Downs, Hawker, Woomera, Peterborough and Olary.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders and parts of the Yorke Peninsula, Mid North, North West Pastoral, North East Pastoral and West Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Roxby Downs, Leigh Creek and Woomera.

A 129KM/H GUST WAS RECORDED AT OLYMPIC DAM AIRPORT AT 5:56PM.

A 113km/h gust was recorded at Tarcoola at 4:27pm.

A 101km/h gust was recorded at Woomera at 5:47pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
