DESTRUCTIVE WINDS OCCURRING ACROSS THE FLINDERS AND MID NORTH DISTRICTS.

Weather Situation: A deep low pressure system is moving across the south of SA today, with a warm and humid airmass ahead of it, supporting the development of severe thunderstorms this evening.

VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Flinders, Mid North and parts of the Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland, North East Pastoral, Mount Lofty Ranges, Murraylands and North West Pastoral districts. Locations which may be affected include Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Clare, Hawker and Jamestown.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Flinders, Mid North, Riverland and parts of the Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Murraylands, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts. Locations which may be affected include Whyalla, Renmark, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Clare and Jamestown.

A 137KM/H GUST WAS RECORDED AT PORT PIRIE AT 7:11PM

A 129KM/H GUST WAS RECORDED AT OLYMPIC DAM AIRPORT AT 5:56PM.

A 113km/h gust was recorded at Tarcoola at 4:27pm.

A 101km/h gust was recorded at Woomera at 5:47pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
