MINOR FLOODING WITH ISOLATED MODERATE POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE
NORTH EAST, EAST COAST, HUON, DERWENT AND SOUTH EAST CATCHMENTS
FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON
A low pressure system near the east coast will move over the
northeast of the state and into eastern Bass Strait during Monday
afternoon and evening, which is expected to bring further rainfall
to the North East, East Coast, Huon, Derwent and South East
catchments.
Catchments in the Flood Watch area are relatively wet.
Further rainfall totals of 20 to 50 mm are forecast over the Flood
Watch area for the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday, with
higher isolated totals possible about elevated locations.
River level rises and minor flooding may develop across the Flood
Watch area from Monday afternoon, with isolated moderate flooding
possible.
Localised and flash flooding of rivulets, small creeks and
low-lying areas may occur in locations that receive higher
rainfall. Isolated heavy rainfall can result in rapid stream rises
and strong flows in the East and South of the State.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
South Esk River
(Minor flood warning current for St Pauls River)
Macquarie River
Channel Coastal Rivers (South East Cape to Gordon)
Derwent River
Jordan River
East Coastal Rivers (south of Bicheno)
South East
Flood warnings are current for the Huon, St Pauls and Coal
Rivers.
