Flood Watch Number: 4

MINOR FLOODING WITH ISOLATED MODERATE POSSIBLE ACROSS PARTS OF THE NORTH EAST, EAST COAST, HUON, DERWENT AND SOUTH EAST CATCHMENTS FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON

A low pressure system near the east coast will move over the northeast of the state and into eastern Bass Strait during Monday afternoon and evening, which is expected to bring further rainfall to the North East, East Coast, Huon, Derwent and South East catchments.

Catchments in the Flood Watch area are relatively wet.

Further rainfall totals of 20 to 50 mm are forecast over the Flood Watch area for the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday, with higher isolated totals possible about elevated locations.

River level rises and minor flooding may develop across the Flood Watch area from Monday afternoon, with isolated moderate flooding possible.

Localised and flash flooding of rivulets, small creeks and low-lying areas may occur in locations that receive higher rainfall. Isolated heavy rainfall can result in rapid stream rises and strong flows in the East and South of the State.

Catchments likely to be affected include:
South Esk River
(Minor flood warning current for St Pauls River)

Macquarie River

Channel Coastal Rivers (South East Cape to Gordon)

Derwent River

Jordan River

East Coastal Rivers (south of Bicheno)

South East

Flood warnings are current for the Huon, St Pauls and Coal Rivers.
