Weather Situation: A strengthening low pressure system well to the northeast of the state in the Tasman Sea is slowly approaching during Sunday. For the exposed coasts and islands in the SOUTHEAST: South to southwesterly DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts up to 100 km/h are likely to develop from late Sunday afternoon, and continue through into Monday morning.

For the WESTERN TIERS and elevated terrain in the NORTHEAST: South to southwesterly DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts up to 110 km/h are likely to onset during early Sunday evening and continue through to Monday morning.

As the low pressure system moves closer on Monday morning, broader areas of damaging winds may also develop about other areas of the state, particularly as the wind direction shifts to become southeasterly.
